Professional Life Education Course

A daily predicament in workplace: What should I say when customers ring me for their unfortunate critical illness? What should I do when I am visiting patients in hospital or attending a funeral? WIA partnering with Centre on Behavioral Health of The University of Hong Kong to introduce this course and convey theory and professional knowledge on life-and-death education. Through elaboration for daily predicament in workplace, we share with the participants basic techniques for dealing with life-and-death issues. We are currently opening this course for the financial planning sector training front-line financial agents to become a WIA Life Ambassador. This will not only upgrade your profession, but also help deepen your relationship with your customers and their family. “More than a Financial and Wealth Planner… be a professional Life Planner!”
Participating organisations include MassMutual Financial Group, Convoy Financial Services Holdings Limited, Manulife Financial Limited, American International Assurance Company (Bermuda) Limited, AXA General Insurance Hong Kong Limited, and others.

Rowena & Louie Reunited Charity Concert

The once renowned “Golden Boy & Emerald Girl”, Rowena Cortes Martin and Louie Castro, teamed up again to present “Rowena & Louie Reunited Charity Concert” after 28 years of silence.  Will In Action (WIA) was honoured and grateful to be the organiser and beneficiary organisation of the concert.  The concert was held with full house at Queen Elizabeth Stadium on 29 & 30 May 2013.  It was such a splendid performance of Rowena and Louie that the Stadium was filled with joy and unanimous bursts of applause throughout the nights.  Amongst the audience there were many entertainment celebrities including Law Lan, Wu Fung, Lau Dan, Lok Yick-Ling, Maria Cordero, Mr & Mrs Chan Pak-Cheung (Nat), Chan Fat-Yung, Mr & Mrs Chan Shek-Sau, Mr & Mrs Liu Kai-Chi etc.  3,500 guests attending the concert on 30 May were fortunate enough to witness Rowena’s wedding ceremony held on stage. It was such a sweet and unforgettable moment!  Funds raised from the concert, after deducting all expenses, go to support WIA’s works on promoting life education and organ donation. Our special thanks to Hacken Lee and George Lam who performed as special guests on stage; Martini Entertainment for overall planning; sweet couple Kimmy Suen and Money Lo for their hearty and unselfish contribution; all workers and volunteers for their hard work, and every of you who attended the concert and rendered your support to WIA!

Life & Death Life Talk Show cum 500 Loving Care Organ Donation Registers for Guinness World Record

WIA has set a new Guinness World Record for Organ Donation Register! With the generous sponsorship from SV Group, WIA organised a charity event namely “Life & Death Life Talk Show cum 500 Loving Care Organ Donation Registers for Guinness World Record” at Jockey Club Auditorium, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University on Friday, 3 August 2012. To support this important cause, over 500 people gathered to sign up their organ donation forms which successfully broke the Guinness World Record for most people registered organ donation in one hour. What followed was the “Life & Death Life Talk Show” hosted by Stephen Chan, WIA’s Honorary Consultant. Stephen and other guests, including Ma Chun-wai, Chan Man-yee, Cheung Tak-ming, shared their experiences and feelings in facing the loss of their loved ones. They encourage people to understand the real meaning of life through death and thus to cherish every moment and live the fullest.

“Capture the Moment” Life Education Public Forum

WIA and The University of Hong Kong jointly organised the “Capture the Moment” Life Education Public Forum with the support of Convoy Caring Volunteer Team. The Forum aimed at arousing public’s understanding toward life and promoting the true meaning behind “How can you understand life without understanding death?” Ms Annie Liu Yip, Founding Chairperson of WIA; Mr Stephen Chan, Honorary Advisor of WIA; and Ms Rosetta Fung, Chief Executive Officer of Convoy Financial Services Limited shared their experiences and feelings in facing death and dying.

“Vision Practitioners” Film Gala Premiere

A pure photography trip marked the born of the first documentary in Hong Kong featuring photography of life journey. Mr Alain Yip, renowned photographer, has once said, “Inspiration shall come up anytime and anywhere. Inspiration is indeed aroused from daily life. Therefore, do enjoy every moment of life, including any difficulties and hurdles encountered.” Fourteen photographers coming from different background of Hong Kong got together to make a trip to Taipei. Had they lighted up sparkles with their cameras when visiting unfamiliar locations, facing unfamiliar culture, and working with unfamiliar local photography models? With this motto “Live in the present and capture the moment”, they commenced their photography work with heart.

2nd Anniversary of the Launching of the Centralised Organ Donation Register

A ceremony marking the second anniversary of the launching of the Centralised Organ Donation Register was held at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre of Kowloon Park on 21 November 2010. The ceremony was officiated by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow; the Chairman of the Hospital Authority, Mr Anthony Wu; the Deputy Director of Health, Dr Gloria Tam; and the President of the Hong Kong Medical Association, Dr Choi Kin. Organisations pledging support the promotion of organ donation promotion were publicly recognised in the ceremony. During the ceremony, Will In Action received a certificate of appreciation and gave an appeal on-stage to further promote organ donation.

“Light Up Lives” Video Production

Will In Action joint hands with Department of Health, Hospital Authority and the Hong Kong Society of Transplantation to produce a series of “Light Up Lives” Real Case Video. A record of more than 8,900 organ donation registrations were received in 3 months following the release of the video in November 2010, comparing to 6,200 registrations during the previous August to October. WIA is glad to bring the promoting organ donation in Hong Kong a big step forward.
